Unlike religious iconography, Knowledge Bennett explores the theme of ascension in his own terms. Designating the artwork as self-referencing he addresses his inner concern for transcendence both personally and professionally. Figuratively the canvases that comprise the quadriptych ascend in nature, making each canvas reach higher ground. With this artwork, Bennett marks his departure from figuration into a conceptual and minimalist aesthetic that has recently allowed him to transcend his prior practice.
